Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-27

These terms govern your use of the Echoes app and website. By creating an account or using Echoes, you agree to them. Echoes is operated by Mataniah Studio, a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("we", "us").

1. What Echoes does

Echoes turns what you say into written drafts. You record your voice, answer a short follow-up question or two, and Echoes generates a draft in the format you choose. Echoes is currently in beta — it is still being developed, and parts of it may change or not work as expected.

2. Your account

You're responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Use a real email address you control. You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (at least 13, and the age of digital consent in your country).

3. Acceptable use

Don't use Echoes to create, store, or share content that is illegal, infringes others' rights, or harms others. Don't attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

4. AI-generated content

Echoes uses AI to write drafts from your speech. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading. You are responsible for reviewing and editing anything Echoes produces before you rely on it or publish it. We make no guarantee that drafts are accurate, original, or fit for any particular purpose.

You own the drafts you create with Echoes, and the recordings and text you provide. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process your input and deliver your draft (for example, sending audio to our transcription provider). We don't claim ownership of your content and don't use it to train AI models.

5. Free tier and subscriptions

Echoes offers a free tier with monthly limits on the number of drafts and the length of each recording session.

A paid subscription with higher limits is available in the app. Subscriptions are billed through Google Play, renew automatically until cancelled, and can be cancelled at any time from Google Play; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right to a refund under applicable law, are not affected by these terms.

6. Beta and availability

Echoes is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that drafts or recordings will never be lost. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

7. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data arising from your use of Echoes. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Echoes and delete your account at any time (Settings → Account → Delete my account, or see tryechoes.app/delete-account). We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also be entitled to the protections of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, including Nigeria.

10. Changes

We may update these terms; we'll revise the "last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Echoes after a change means you accept the updated terms.
